Pei-Hsuan at the shore of the pond of heaven.

um... I paint. Sorry I never mentioned that. I just wanted a deviant art account for my nature photography. But I needed something to submit since I can't just come on and update my journal (this isn't a blog) so I submitted a painting I recently did. I got help from someone I work with, for the chinese. I told her what i wanted translated and she found a childrens poem similar to what I wanted to say and showed me how to write the characters. It says something like "there is a beautiful woman by the shore of a river."

It is about a person I met this year named Pei-Hsuan. She is so beautiful... I can't begin to describe. Its like when the sky has been cloudy all day and then the sun peaks through - that's like her walking into a room. Some people glow. She has a glow. Maybe its her eyes. Some people have big "innocent" eyes, but I think hers are more... compassionate. Like those statues of Mary. Have you ever seen someone with real joy? Someone who can smile with no darkness behind their eyes?

So I painted her at heaven's shore. She brings it to the rest of us who need a taste.

Black ink, sumi ink (for mountains), and watercolor (yellow ocher, burnt umber, french ultra-marine, cadmium yellow [for wave crests], Alizarin Crimson, lamb black and I think that's all.)

the only reason why smart people are labeled as geeks or dorks is because the "norm" of society is to be a jaded idiot

there is at least one thing in everyone's gallery that deserves a fav, it just all depends on how hard you look

Thanks :) but not as even close to as pretty as her I don't know if anyone could be that good

I was so drawn to this, it's absolutely breathtaking. I've lately been reading Captivating (by John& Stacy Eldredge) It talks about beauty being at the central core of every woman. Your piece so captures this.
Thank You.

uh, thanks for the comment, I appreciate it. But at the risk of sounding like a prig, part of what makes Pei-Hsuan so beautiful is that she is different from every woman. She doesn't gossip, or seem to spend excessive money on stupid fancy clothes, she doen't cake her face in inches of makeup, she doesn't put other people down behind their backs, she doesn't complain, she is joyful, she encourages people, she has compassion on the ones suffering, and she really loves people from the heart. Yeah she can't be perfect (no one is) but I don't find character like hers in very many women, nor in people in general.

That doesn't sound priggish to me. I was just commenting on the effect your art had on me. Please forgive me if it sounded as if I were trying to redefine your art. I believe that every woman's beauty is different. Undoubtedly Pei-Hsuan is a unique beauty. Whether or not a woman wears make-up, expensive clothes is (to me) a matter of personal style. I think that G-d calls women to grow into the characteristics that you find so refreshing in Pei-Hsuan. I just saw a larger truth, that has lately been becoming more real to me.
